In today's modern age, data can be recovered through advanced technology often possessed by agencies and data recovery companies. They are capable of taking even a shattered and fried hard drive platter or broken SSD and restoring some, if not all of the data contained through magnetic, chemical, and microscopic means. When someone is intent on using your data against you, it's often very possible to do so unless complex and extended measures are taken.

Therefore- we developed a procedure to counter this. It goes as follows:

1. Securely erase and overwrite all data on the entire storage medium with 3 or more passes of DoD 5220.22-M.

2. Verify erasure of all data.

3. Physically destroy the drive beyond any hope of recovery. 

4. Verify results with the customer and destroy all records.
